About the Book

An explanation is provided in very understandable language for the in depth physiological and psychological mechanisms by means of which consciousness occurs, incorporating, but going far beyond, theories which have been published to date.

This writing uncovers the direct relationship of consciousness to a number of important psychological functions and presents an integrated, coherent explanation of their mechanisms. The functions include attention, association, meaning, abstraction, context, curiosity, and others. The pivotal roles of emotion and memory are elucidated. Further it provides convincing resolutions of the ancient "mind-body problem", the enigma of volition, and the question of whether or not there is free will. It offers central insights into the origin of dreams and hallucinations and opens the door to the development of more advanced artificial intelligence and humanoids.
