About the Book
Surreal Reality explores the world through the eyes of a truly devoted poet and artist who has devoted five years of his life to the composition of this book. The poems in this volume span from those of triumph, love, loss, utter despair, fantasy, bliss, or the simple enjoyment of a cup of coffee. With a vast array of works from haiku-style, three line poems to the semi-epic tale, "The Meadow and The Tree," to the flowing stream of thought of free verse, Surreal Reality promises the reader the experience of a myriad of emotions ranging from both ends of the spectrum.
About the Author
Thomas James Flores (better known as "T.J.") was born on February 2, 1983 in San Jose, California, where he still lives today. He is a college student who had a lifelong dream of publishing a book ever since the writing of his first poem. He is also a self-taught guitarist and songwriter with styles ranging from blues to black metal and everything in between. Poetically, his major influences are Langston Hughes, Edgar Allan Poe, Dante Alighieri, John Milton, and Matsuo Basho but he adds his own unique style of free verse to blend with the likes of those he admires. His main goal in life is to make a positive impression on everyone who reads his work, hears him play guitar, or shakes his hand.
