About the Illustrator

Native American artist Paul Cannon, started drawing at age four. Now eighteen, he makes his professional debut illustrating Broken Hearts Bloody Trails. Though self taught, ancient Kumeyaay incantations nourish Paul's soulful renderings. Intricate details reveal his dark, powerful magic.

Wasted lives and dreams were the catalysts that transformed Paul's reservation experience into a promising career. "The first step is to be content with what I create, and then not worry about the money," he says.
