About the Book

"The poetry of Hildegard Bonacker Bruni accomplishes with deceptive ease the passage of the reader into her world of heartfelt emotion, breathtaking nature, and sincere devotion to our Creator. In addition, she unselfishly shares painful memories in recollection of a childhood spent in a war-torn Germany; a disturbing, graphic view of the consequences of war from the eyes of the innocent women and children who had to leave their home and escape, get caught in the battlefield and the ones left on the home front.

With this in mind, Mrs. Bruni's patriotic stanzas to America, lauding her adopted country, are so much more poignant. The simplicity of her work, sans any artifice, provides a sorely needed respite from the demands of this hectic world for the reader . . . an opportunity to savor, reflect, to shed a tear, and most especially, to smile. Simply said a treasure."

Rebecca Egly

"Simply beautiful and beautifully simple."

Dr. Kenneth Maier

"Hildegard Bonacker Bruni's words come from the depth of her inner most being and will touch every heart and soul."

Helga Kielnecker

About the Author

Hildegard was born in East Prussia
Near the Kaiser's hunting ground.
In World War II she escaped from Prussia.
In West Germany a home she found.

She received her former Education
As a Doctor's Assistant in Medicine.
Then left behind her German Nation
And became an American Citizen.

To be a poet and study art,
This dream she nursed within her heart.
At the Academy of Art she gathered knowledge,
Took creative writing at Harper college.

Dr. Aldo Bruni she later married.
His Clinic for many years she managed.
She wrote a collection of poetry
For her husband's tenth Anniversary.

Now, retired, they spend their summers
In the mountains of Lake Tahoe
And by the Sea of Cortez the winters.
On trips and cruises they do go.

The International Society of Poetry,
Published and taped several poems of hers.
They chose her once as poet of the year.
She improves her writing in every way.

Her poems and paintings are not art alone,
Nor merely a rendering of words and nature
But a mystic marriage of the two
To honor her creator and delight you.

A Professor from the UCLA
Had this about her work to say:
"The richness of color, harmonious display
Her inner joy and beauty portray."
