Tangled

Alone – far beyond a place I have ever touched

You must be so lonely

The gray sky thickens around you

And the tide is too calm

Where do you go for solace? Where do you turn for comfort?

As you drift alone, you claim to be warm inside

I still see right through you

Who are you being strong for this time?

Or is your despair an illusion in my mind?

Are my thoughts tangled in webs of my past?

The fearful days when you went away

Or is this what loyalty claims to be?

Still thinking of someone, each day, someone who could not give the same

Are my actions insane, or do they seek to inspire?

I still write – only for you

Better will surface, I know, as you drift alone--

A stranger to all that encompasses you

Are you cold out there in the deep dark sea?

Or do you find comfort in the silence?

You surrender to wherever the lazy current may take you

It always takes you further away from home

Do you think of yourself as I remember you?

Smiling and happy-- do you think to the past?

Or do I just think too much?

My heart pathetically aches after all these years

Continue to drift – sail away

I guess it makes things easier

But you still haunt my mind

I see you often when I close my eyes

I awaken angry as fire

Go away. Leave me be.

You mean nothing to me
