"I don’t want to read the Bible, I can’t stand to pray, and I’m not going to church anymore. I’ve decided I don’t need religion. I have a right to choose what I want. I’m the one who takes care of myself, not God!" Anger, hurt and fear gripped Lisa’s soul. "Your timing is great." The bride broke into tears as she ran into the other room. What am I going to do? she thought. I believed Craig was a Christian when I married him. We went to church together and he told my pastor he was a Christian. How can he do this to me? Where did I go wrong?’
Lisa trembled when she remembered the Scriptures that warned, Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? -- What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? (2 Corinthians 6:14a&15b) She grieved over the thought that Craig would be judged for his unbelief. The Scripture said, Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. (John 3:36) The holy God’s judgment was a fearful thing to Lisa. As a new wife, Lisa suddenly found herself in a love-hate relationship with Craig. She loved him because he was her husband and she was emotionally bonded to him but she hated him for deceiving her even though he might not have meant to do so. To her it didn’t matter because the results were the same. She was crushed. Her dreams and hopes were shattered because she loved the Lord and wanted a solid Christian family. The next day Lisa searched her heart more than she ever had before. "I tried to do everything right," she prayed. "God, why did you let him do this to me? Oh, Lord, help me. Why won’t he believe?" Dana was another woman in Lisa’s church who was married to a man who rejected God and the Bible. There are different ways Christian women can become yoked to nonChristian husbands or men who neglect their spiritual relationship with God. Dana broke her mother’s heart when she said, "Christian men are boring; I like men with action and excitement. I love Leon and I’m going to marry him." Dana was like Samson who defied God by marrying an unbeliever. Samson came from a godly family and God called him to be a Nazarite, yet he fell in love with an exciting, sexy Philistine woman. When Samson’s parents objected by asking why he didn’t marry a godly girl, he ignored them and said, "Get her for me. She’s the right one for me." (Judges 14:3b) God let him go his sinful way, which ended in tragedy. Then Delilah, another Philistine woman, enchanted him. When Samson told Delilah the secret of his strength was his long hair, she betrayed him for silver and cut it off when he was asleep. It left him helpless in front of the Philistines and he was imprisoned and tormented. Samson got into serious trouble by aligning himself with unbelievers. One sin led to another. But God used these events so Samson could destroy the cruel conquerors of the Israelites. When the Philistines brought him to the temple of their god Dagon to ridicule him and his God, the Lord gave him strength to pull down the pillars of their temple and he and 3,000 people died. In spite of the fact that Samson sinned in his love life, God used Samson for his own glory.

About the Author
Rosemarie Malroy's life experiences give her writing an unusual sensitivity. Mother of three children, she has lived in Washington, Montana, Virginia and Arizona – wherever her husband's professional forestry job led them. Living in remote areas of an Indian reservation to a Washington D. C. suburb, she met Christian women, like herself, married to unbelieving men. She found whatever their circumstances, these women all had the same basic problems. Rosemarie started Bible studies and together the women provided spiritual support for each other. Their experiences are shared in her book. Over the years, the author kept notes from her personal Bible study. These notes are the basis for Spiritually Widowed Wives.
