About the Book

Ronald Best and a powerful band of fellow Nefazians called the Power Council are in a race against time as they try to gain control of the White House and, ultimately, Earth. While their home planet decays under a green haze of pollution, they map out the personal and political future of a human clone named Joe Willie, who has been genetically engineered to be ruthless but easily programmable through medication. With unlimited financial resources and the support of the Federalist Party, the members of the Power Council are confident they can buy Joe Willie a proper political wife, a Senate seat, and eventually a presidential election. As the years pass, however, it becomes clear that Joe Willie is not as easily controlled as they had hoped, and the Council is forced to pay out more and more to cover up Joe Willie’s disastrous escapades.

Joe Willie doesn’t understand his own identity or the uncontrollable, violent urges that have plagued him since adolescence. His only joy comes from time spent with his beloved dog and stallion in the canyons around his Sedona ranch. He longs to escape from the daily hell of hypodermic needles, confusing mood swings, and marriage to a beautiful woman who despises him. Yet the thought of someday sitting in the White House motivates him to try to follow the Power Council’s commands.

Meanwhile, the Democratic candidate for the presidency, George Blair, is facing his own personal obstacles. After the sudden death of his older brother at the age of eighteen, George struggles for years to win his father’s approval, as well as the love of a young woman named Judy. Just when he thinks he’s triumphed over all the trials life could throw at him, he and Judy must combat the unearthly powers of the Federalist Party and their desire to see George removed from the presidential race.
