"Hey, ah, I’d like to talk to you."
"Sure. Talk."
"No, in person. I’d like to see you. Something important."
"You heading this way?"
"No, I need to see you out here."
"What’s up, Hack?"
"I’ll have to tell you out here, Woody. I’d like you to come out. Give me the weekend of the twentieth, say, arriving on Friday, back Monday."
"Well--"
"Woody, I wouldn’t bother you with something unimportant."
"I know you wouldn’t. Okay, Hack. Sure, I’ll come out. With Julie, maybe--"
"Ah, no. Alone, please."
"Really. Well--okay."
"And I’ll have to ask you not to let her know where you’re going. And to travel in ways that don’t leave footprints. No reservations. I’ll send you a name to use. I’ll need a passport photo from you."
"Hey, Hack, what is this?"
"Woody, I need your trust, your confidence. Do this one for the Hacker."
"All right. It would be nice to catch up with you. It’s been a long time. Where do I go? What do I do?"
"Send me a photo right away by ordinary mail. With the ID I’ll send, buy a ticket at the airport and get yourself to Long Beach. See if you can get into the hotel aboard the Queen Mary. Use the same ID."

"I think you may have it in your head to break him up somehow."
"Somehow, yes--and I’m not sure."
"Well, start with how bad you want to stuff him."
"It’s real bad, Sam. I’d do anything short of walking up and blasting him."
"My friends, I think somebody should mention here that if we move another couple of inches, we’ll all be in a con--conspiracy."
"So?"
"He’s right, guys. That’s why I asked you to come here under different names. Right now, Billy, Jimmy and Otto may be in a conspiracy, but they don’t exist. Sam, Woody and Hunz are clean."
"Still, I think we all ought to understand that. Un--understand what a conspiracy is. Anybody who has a big problem with it, well--"
"You’re right, Hunz. And anybody who doesn’t like this kind of conversation probably should step out now. No problem, no apologies."
"Okay."
"You all right with that, Sam? Woody?"
"Sure."
"Yeah, I’m okay. Let’s see how this goes."
