The Judge Is God

In our circle of friends we try to live by Bible standards so we were extremely cautious when speaking with others. We never brought up details of the litigation or initiated conversation that might lead into it, not even questioning what they might have heard. However, we were certain by the reactions of some people, who went out of their way to avoid us, that loyalties in our situation had become divided. Some of these, now so-called friends, we really cared about. Not speaking out and disclosing the truth from the start, took a toll against us, but we didn't want anyone involved in our issues needlessly.

Though publication was not even a consideration at the onset, if any who have judged us read this now, and recognize the situation, they will have heard our side. I am sorry it took all these years to publish. This book is not designed to hurt anyone, in fact, I pray that it might help others to look - and weigh the ramifications - before they blindly leap into a courtroom battle.

Our reputation was unjustifiably ravaged publicly. This book is our only response to those public, and some private unspoken defamations, against the Bucci's. We know the meaning of gossip, slander, and libel, but some don't. If anyone becomes offended, I admonish them to look up the meanings of these words or call me. I'll have both my dictionary and file cabinet open and waiting to prove myself. My conscience is crystal clear.

We did not consciously cause divisions, but they developed because an individual you will soon be introduced to, spread continuous lies. The truth can knock down lies like a domino string. If only the judges, in charge of these cases, were forced to realize how damaging it is to children who are forced to declare loyalties, to take on concerns far too complex for their emotional/mental capabilities, and then be ignored by the very same ones . . . in charge of protecting them.

After being thrust into these situations by adults, children can speak out and make choices. Landry did. But no one in authority listened. God gave young ones a mind and the power to reason. Where is their human dignity? Who of us adults would want to be labeled as 'only a child' in this judicial system? Much can be changed if the right people listen . . . and react. Our story will be heard, "even if I have to shout it from the roof of the Capitol building." By writing this book, I am demanding attention. This situation was and still is wrong and deserves consideration. Even though the damage caused can not be reversed now, it can be overcome. Satisfaction will be realized by us if my hope is achieved and, after reading this, others don't suffer as we did. We were ignorant of the way that the judicial system functions. Forewarned is forearmed. If only someone had cautioned us!

During this case, I found that my entire mental and emotional existence was being jeopardized. When something becomes a test to the point of taking over your entire thought process, it's time to do something about it. I'll be as kind as possible in presenting the facts and I hope I bring things out in the manner that befits a Christian. But, to make myself heard it is necessary to tell the truth behind this story. My purpose is not to be vindictive, although I'm sure that from time to time my anger shows. Someday this person will grow up and may be truly sorry. That is our hope.

Please note that only the expert's full legal names are given. This is because each, in their respective and accountable position, deserve credit for the role they shared. It matters not whether their performance was good, bad, indifferent or downright (as in the case of two) illegal, they should be recognized for what they did. The other individuals are not named in full because this story is not about them. Even within quoted legal documents, I inserted fictitious names. These people were only pawns in the hand of a system that continues to victimize innocent children, by allowing their fate to be handed to the most accountable person of all ... whom we were told was God. His throne is the bench and his scepter is the gavel. His crown is suppose to be knowledge of the law. But, especially in this case, it was tarnished . . . as you will see.

This manuscript is documented by reports from many professionals which will include hospital reports, mental health reports, marriage counselors, the children's Guardian ad Litem report, court transcripts, Social Services reports, audio tape transcripts and videos. Also, we have a report from a neurologist associated with Children's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. There are many "less important", facts and reports that I could also use, but I would end with a library instead of a book. I really have to be selective.

The attorney, Drew Kouris wrote the meaning of "documents" and did an excellent job in his Petitioner's Request For Production Of Documents. Under the subheading, Definitions And Instructions it reads:

"As used herein, the term 'documents' means any and all materials or things, however recorded, maintained or reproduced and whether an original or a copy (including any copies thereof bearing notations, memoranda or other written information or alterations not on the original), including without the limitation everything encompassed within the definition of section 622.30 of the Code Of Iowa, all writings, agreements, contracts, correspondence, letters, telegrams . . . photographs and negative summaries . . . notes or other records of telephone and personal conversations . . . investigations . . . tape recordings or other process . . . videotapes, etc.. Many avenues are legal for documentation use."

Ramona, the person in question here, struck out at us through the court system. She came out of nowhere. She made false allegations in the courtroom and once there, it became a public matter. Everything said in a courtroom is public record. I'm forced into making a defense. We have never gone behind Ramona's back with anything, nor do I now.

We asked ourselves, what would Jesus do? He would tell the truth, SCREAM it if he had to. He did not shrink back when faced with trials. Neither will we. Libel and slander are both words used mostly in connection to fiction. Provable fact does not produce either. Stark reality is found throughout this writing.

Consider this as a warning . . . to beware . . . tread carefully, weigh the legalities, do research, mingle with the support groups, choose your attorney wisely and preferably from within those groups. Very important: Make sure you have a seasoned attorney, very experienced in custody/family matters. I emphasize the "very experienced" here, for reasons that you will soon understand.
