About the Book

There are two viewpoints on traveling for business. One viewpoint is that of the non-traveler who defines business travel as being lucky. The other viewpoint comes from the "lucky" business traveler, who is served a meal in some remote country and needs to find a way to make it disappear without offending his host.

This book is a collection of humorous encounters and thoughts about traveling while on business. The events in this book range from bungled communication attempts, to toilets with speakers. Have you ever awakened with a rooster in your bedroom, or have a young child stick a carrot in your ear as you slept on an airplane? These are some of the events that the frequent traveler experiences while on the road.

Some people see travel as fun. However, when the man sitting next to you on an airplane produces more gas than Exxon and the "Fasten Seatbelt" sign stays lit for the entire flight, there is no joy in this situation. The fun comes when I share these events with you. If your job requires travel, hopefully my experiences will remind you of similar events. If you have never traveled or travel very little, this book will hopefully point out the little things at home that we take for granted.

About the Author

Bruce Blanton is a training manager for a small manufacturing company in Tempe, Arizona. He averages around 100,000 airline miles per year to perform his job. From St. Patrick's Day in Ireland to having rocks thrown at his taxi in Jakarta, he has had his life influenced by the memories, culture and lifestyles of every country he has visited. Even though he speaks one language (English), Bruce has taught computer skills in twenty-one different countries.

Bruce looks at the world from a slightly different perspective than most people do. With humor as his primary motivation, he has the ability to transform routine events into lasting memories. Throughout his travels, he has recorded memorable experiences from his first encounter with an Asian toilet, to having his taxi in a standoff with a water buffalo in Indonesia. In his travels, he has had many "meaningful conversations" with people that he did not have a clue as to what they were saying.

Bruce's creative imagination is frequently reflected in his work as well as his perspective on life. It is this perspective that enables him to bring a smile to the faces of the people that he meets.
