My evenings are taken up very largely with astrology. I make horoscopic calculations in order to find a clue to the core of psychological truth.
--Carl G. Jung, in a letter to Sigmund Freud
Do you know there are now thirteen signs in the zodiac? Do you know that you have a new sun sign? Do you know it has an immense impact on you? Probably not, but you do know there are lots of changes going on that you can see, feel and sense. As you look around, you know things are changing. Some of us are apprehensive. Some of us are filled with excitement and anticipation. Others fear change.
The purpose of this book is to explain these changes, and how they have been set into motion by the entry of Ophiuchus into the Zodiac.
For some magical reason, the Sun, the Moon, the Stars and all the planets in our solar system have a mysterious parallelism and correspondence with each of our individual psyches. How and why is this so? I am not sure. However, the ancients say that the planets are signs from the gods to be used as tools to aid us during our journey through life. According to the Bible, when God created the planets and stars he said, "Let them be for signs." I say: we have a new sign in our zodiac, and it’s activated by the planet Pluto.
I first heard of this phenomenal event around Valentine’s Day in 1995. A friend called to tell me that The Royal Astronomical Society in England had just announced the existence of a 13th astrological sign, Ophiuchus. She went on to say that the year would have to be divided up differently, and we would all be dislodged.
"Who am I?" I said, thinking that I must fall under this new sign.
"You are now a Pisces," she replied.
I had always been a true Aries, with all the positive and negative traits of this sign in full-blown. As a redhead, I even looked like an Aries. I loved the fiery energy of adventure that Aries gave me, and, true to my sign, I hated routine. Aries is ruled by Mars (the Roman god of war), and I needed to be up and doing things all the time with great enthusiasm, quick wit and quick temper--mostly quick temper. I had no time or patience for anybody or anything. This impatience got me into trouble more than once, but I didn’t care. I loved taking risks and living dangerously. When driving my car, I imagined that I was Sterling Moss (one of the greatest Grand Prix racers).
But when I was told that I was now a Pisces, it felt like an arrow going through my Aries heart. I couldn’t think of anything more opposite or distasteful because Pisces was so patient and soulful. As a perpetual student of the art of astrology, I had to start my quest to find out how anyone could just suddenly become a Pisces.
Now that time has passed, I am the first to admit that I have started to develop the coloring of Pisces. I have gone from the, "me first," cardinal fire energy of Aries to the humble, mutable, watery energy of compassionate, introspective, sensitive and dreamy characteristics of Pisces. At first, all I could think was: "My God, am I going to drown in the emotions of Pisces?" But I am a better person for the Piscean traits and colorings that I am developing. I don’t know how anyone tolerated me before! Just like a child, I was clueless and self-involved. Aries, the first sign in the Zodiac, is in essence a child, while Pisces, the last sign, has the wisdom and patience of age.
This book–which I couldn’t have written without the humility, patience and creativity of Pisces
--will explain all the changes you may have been experiencing recently. It will attempt to give you a clearer picture and a deeper understanding of some of the new energies coming in from the shift, personally and universally, as we raise our vibrational level and move into the next (fourth) level of consciousness and awareness.
Ophiuchus is not making this happen, (we have free will) but rather is bearing witness to our changes. So far this is just the beginning of our transition into the new millennium and our transformation to the Fourth and Fifth Dimensions. We have picked an exciting time in which to live –to see all these changes taking place. Time will be speeding up even more than before, measured not in New York Minutes but in World Minutes. You will find things changing so fast that you can’t help but to see the oneness in all of this. We are the people of the planet earth. Until we achieve that oneness, we will not be able to travel inter-galactic ally.
From the stars we see that our position in the Zodiac has changed to include the 13th sign. What does this change mean? That’s what this book is about. The adjustments that most all of us are going through can be explained by examining the planets. The activation of Ophiuchus by Pluto has dislodged almost all of our sun signs and rearranged the Zodiac so that we must now include this 13th sign. In the same way that it is impossible not to include computers and their technologies in your life today, you will be affected by this extraordinary astrological change.
This means that we still remain who we are, but by some metaphysical mysteries of the universe, we will be given all the additional strengths and challenges of another sun sign in addition to the ones given to us at birth.
At first you may cringe at the thought, as I did. But Aries certainly could use some Piscine traits to be better equipped to evolve into the next dimension. Pisces will need Aquarius, and the Aquarian will need Capricorn, and so forth. Gemini, you are now a GemTaurian; Libra you are now a LibVirian (see Chapter 3).
Your only choice is that of participating in these changes knowingly or unknowingly.
Your evolution into the fourth dimension will go more smoothly and quickly if you know what is happening and why. Astrology has been around since the beginning of human existence. At its worst, it is a misleading and twisted parlor game filled with mystical garbage. At its best, it is an ancient tool – a vehicle for self-discovery for a better understanding of who we are and where this journey of life is taking us. The goal of this book is to help you understand and adjust to all of these new changes. Take what feels right to you in the pages ahead, and leave the rest. I like to use the "aha" factor. When you discover a new truth about something, there is almost always a confirming "aha," a shift of awareness that is both physically felt in the body and perceived in the mind.
As you read through the following chapters, some of the information may surprise you. Other information will simply confirm hunches you’ve had for some time. Either way, my hope is that you will embrace, in your mind, heart, and body, this powerful new time in your life. Knowing that nothing you are about to read is true, in the three dimensional sense, but it is exactly what is happening right now.
