Mistaken Identity - Erica's Miracle

Erica felt herself floating. Then she entered a
tunnel. It was dark......so dark, and
she was traveling rapidly through a confined space. She could see a small,
bright light at the end of the tunnel, as though it were miles away. As Erica
kept moving, the light got bigger and brighter. When she reached the end of the tunnel, she stopped. Now, the light was directly in front of her.
It was the most beautiful, brilliant white light she had ever seen. There were no words to describe the beauty.
Radiating from this light was the feeling of warm,
intense love that enclosed her like a sealed envelope. She was not at all afraid, but felt
incredible peace.
The light was so bright, yet it didn't hurt her
eyes. Erica felt like she could gaze on it for all eternity. The beautiful
light appeared to be a being. She
didn't need to question who it was. It
was Christ--her Lord.
Then she saw the angels dressed in white. They were
coming for her. Coming with them was
her mother, who was as beautiful as the angels. Erica felt excited and happy that they were coming for her. She wanted to stay there in that
beautiful, peaceful place and be with her mother, the angels and her Lord.
Then Erica remembered her dad and how she could help
him. He still needed her very much. A
powerful force began to pull her back.....back.....back.

Erica opened her eyes, just a little. Her eyes moved
from side to side. Where am I? She
wondered. Everything looked unfamiliar.
She was lying on her back in a bed. By the bed were several machines, one was
making a thunk....thunk....thunk sound.
There were tubes and wires connected to various parts of her body, and
pain. Her whole body hurt: her head, her arm, her leg and inside her stomach.
Her mouth felt parched. What had happened?
Where was she? A hospital? So much confusion.
When she tried to open her eyes more the overhead
light hurt her eyes. Erica's eyelids
felt weighted down. She was so
sleepy.
A nurse came into the room and stood by her bedside.
"Erica, wake up. My name is Greta
and I'm your nurse. How do you feel?"
"I hurt, all over," said Erica, groggily.
"I can give you something to help that."

About the Book
Having her
mother die two years ago was tough for 12 year old Erica Owens. Now, her father
has just been sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit and she must learn to
cope with a foster family as well as a new school where a certain male student
makes life difficult at best.
Erica finds it
hard to deal with the demands of her foster mother, Glenda, but adores their
five-year-old son, Peter. His various
antics cause laughter, embarrassment and terror for Erica. The light-hearted approach to life from
Lamar, her foster father makes up for the tension Erica feels with Glenda.
Kirby, the
foster family's dog also becomes a victim of mistaken identity when he's
accused of attacking a little girl.
Erica loves this dog. Watching
the police take him away only brings back haunting memories of the day her dad
was arrested. However, Erica's sharp eyesight helps her rescue the dog.
Erica nearly
explodes with excitement when she discovers evidence to prove her father's
innocence. While investigating the
evidence, she becomes a victim of a serious hit-run accident, resulting in a
near- death experience that takes her on a journey. While in the hospital, the
valuable piece of evidence is accidentally tossed in the trash. Has she also lost the only way to help her
dad?
With the help of a look-alike police sketch, a
customer's receipt and her father's lawyer, Erica learns that with prayer and
faith in God, miracles still happen.
About the Author
Sharon Passey was born and raised in Everett,
Washington. She is a minister's
wife. She and her husband, David live
in Shoreline, WA. They have three grown
children and two grandchildren. Sharon
is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. This is
her first book.
