About the Book

Can you imagine a gentleman building two sprawling homes in Fort Myers, Florida in order for his wife to cook in one and he dine in the other because he detested the aroma of food? Sounds like "Believe it or Not" by Ripley. Ripley’s unusual story is in his book, but the gentleman I’m referring to is not Mr. Ripley, but our world-famous inventor, Thomas A. Edison! R & R (Reading and Readiness) with Florida Attractions (A Florida Travel Guide: Which Includes A Children’s Educational Text) is filled with flavorful stories of fascinating millionaires, magnificent mansions and gracious gardens suited for a king and queen.

Realizing the dire need for updating the reading standards in our school systems of today, I have decided to challenge the problem with a unique learning method that will not only stimulate and motivate youthful curiosity, but the reader will welcome its digestible ingredients because he or she wants to learn, and is not being forced or pressured into learning. I have decided to take a giant step in this direction to do something about this "lack of reading skill". This puzzle-some problem is so vitally detrimental for our young scholars of tomorrow. We must realize reading knowledge must be influenced at an elementary age. If we, as students and educators, realize the importance of this problem now, we can be assured of hope for the future.

In order to encourage the young reader’s mind and securely funnel his future reading skills in the right direction, R & R (Reading and Readiness) with Florida Attractions has been penned to play an important part in seeing that youth’s educational direction has been justified. Not only is R & R with Florida Attractions entertaining, but also educational for the reader and informative for the vacationer, as it serves as a unique Florida tourist guide.

For those who have a thirst for traveling...a tongue to talk about the educational value for our school system and a palate to please our young readers with an entertaining method of teaching reading skills, by all means relish my recipe of R & R With Florida Attractions: A Florida Travel Guide - Which Includes A Children’s Educational Text, deliciously sandwiched with a wealth of savory knowledge and seasoned with picturesque photo material.

It is with deep gratitude that I most graciously thank Florida Attractions and their promotional agencies for their loyal support in contributing pictorial matter and informational material in order to assure the success of this publication. Also a special Thank You to: Lloyd A. Soughers, retired Superintendent of Public Schools of Brevard County; John L. Carkeet, PH.D Professor Emeritus and former Academic Dean of the School of Aeronautics, Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Florida; Valene Croskey, Jr., Director of Student Services of Brevard County Public Schools and Dr. Jerome Keuper, founder of FIT (Florida Institute of Technology), in Melbourne, Florida...an avid traveler, author, and lecturer; Miles Media Group; Webster’s Dictionary; Ethel Maxam Crews; Mohammed Nuruzzaman Yasin, Caroline Blanchard and the State of Florida.
