About the Book

Two small children, newly-orphaned, are separated – one sent east and one sent west, their names changed, and their vast fortune stolen. The story begins fifteen years later when they begin their search for each other, their only clue: a box the boy had with him when they were separated. Unknown to the boy, now wearing rags, hidden in the box is a treasure worth more than a king’s ransom. It is July, 1984. Retribution has just mounted a swift horse and is cantering into the fast lane . . . But the killing has already been scheduled for today.

About the Author

Author-lecturer, Dr. O. J. Bryson – friends and family call him "Jay" – lives on a mountain overlooking the Tennessee River, in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountains. His novel, A Trace of Smoke, a suspense/thriller, is Number One on the Regional Bestseller List. Bryson, a university professor/administrator turned businessman, is also published in Writer’s Digest and has nonfiction books published in English, French, and Korean. In high school, he raced motorcycles and boxed in the Golden Gloves. As a professor, he toured for the State Department with the USO. He has two sons, one daughter-in-law, and one grandson.
