"I would beat the crap out of him if I were you!" Shanice shouted as if we were the only two people in the place. I looked around and realized that we had become the center of attention. "Would you keep your voice down please. We are not at a fight party. Anyway, do you see what I’m talking about? That’s how I find them every time I visit Antonio at work. It makes me sick. I could kill that bitch!" I snatched the picture back from Shanice. Shanice looked at me as if she was disgusted. "And your beef is not with her, right? Anyway, I just don’t see why you just don’t give him the boot. I’d be like, see yeah! I don’t see Antonio changing just because you wave a legal paper in his face. He was like that before you married him and he’ll be like that till the day he dies. He’s a dog for life. And when he go, you’ll be okay. Like my mama always say, ‘You can do bad by yourself.’ " "I know. But, I can’t just let what we have go after all these years. I guess I’m just like my mother. My father was running the street through their whole marriage and she just sat there and watched without a word. I use to ask her why she stayed and she would say it was because of love. She loved him too much to leave. I guess that’s why I’m still holding on to Tony. I put a lot of time into him." "And all that time has got you nowhere. Look, I’m all for waiting for a bad man to turn good, but if you killing yourself worrying about that man and going through fire just for a nigga to be faithful to you, then it’s not worth it. You’re in the same position you were in when he first cheated on you. Girl, give it up cause it’s not happening." "It’s not that easy Shan. I get so angry because I hate being so insecure. I hate not being strong enough to just say f--- it and move on. I can still see the hurt in my mother’s eyes whenever my father would call her and say that he wasn’t coming home that weekend. I carry that same hurt and anger she felt with me everyday I deal with Tony. I just want to hurt him sometimes. The more I don’t want to be like her, I end up like her even more." "Well, you need to just be about you and do what makes you happy and forget about him. He’s not worth the heartache." "I don’t see you letting your man go. From what I heard he done dogged you out more times then you can count." "Well, I’m me and your you. I do what I got to do to keep my man. Yeah and I go back to him after he dogs me out every time. But the difference is between me and you is I’m not complaining about it. You are." Like I said before: I hated her!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EBONY is a beautiful, sassy and strong woman whose ideas of a perfect marriage came from televisions shows she use to watch as a child. Finding out later that a marriage was not always peaches and cream, she was forced to come to reality with herself. Her main goal in life was not to be like her mother. Haunted by her troubled childhood of seeing her mother being abused by her father, she carried a hard burden that later affected her out look on life. Her past affected the way she felt about men, and how she dealt with her own husband, Antonio.
ANTONIO was blessed with his father’s good looks. But was cursed with it at the same time. He couldn’t keep the women off of him. But his love for Ebony was worth more then one night of bliss. With his fathers wish for him to be the best, Tony was forced to do just that. He left everything that was important to him behind as he focused on making his father’s nightclub a success. Antonio later realizes that his fathers wish was not the main importance in his life.
SHANICE came from mixed parents and as a result of growing up in a harsh world, was better known as hard core. She had been Ebony’s protector and partner since elementary school. Their friendship had been a major part of both their lives over the years. Shanice was always the type who loved hard and always got kicked hard in the end. It took something devastating in her life to make her realize, she was worth more then her man was willing to give.

About the Author
Lakeshia Keys was born June 11, 1975, in Washington, DC. At the age of eight, she developed a love for books as well as for writing them. Her father would always say that she was in ‘LA LA Land’, because she would stay in her room all day, thinking of new things to write about. Never making it to college, she got married at eighteen in 1993 to a wonderful man named, Quillo Harley. After three kids and a mortgage, she decided that she wouldn’t put her writing skills on hold anymore. Working at American University as an administrative assistant for the Department of Government, she used their time and money to start and finish, A Woman’s Stupid Intuition.
