You often hear the police say that they’re only human and that humans make mistakes. I agree with that, however, they need to realize that everybody makes mistakes and that everybody should be treated the same for those mistakes. Maybe former APD Officer Chuck Betts and former APD Officer Frank Feichtinger are the only two officers that are sexual perverts. Don’t count on it though, because next we have a former APD officer by the name of Ron Wade, who was on duty one night when he decided he would "get a little" from a woman. Not just any woman, but a Spenard prostitute. I guess that was his way of "screwing the public." Was Officer Wade charged with soliciting sex from a prostitute even after he admitted to the crime? Of course not, instead, he quit the force. Then we have another former APD officer by the name of Matt Dahl, who resigned because of allegations that he was sleeping with a teen-aged girl. She was in the police explorer program at the time. Once again our corrupt system let him off the hook by allowing him to resign instead of being arrested, but then again, he was a police officer and we all know how they’re allowed to get away with anything. Do we just have sexual perverts working at the Anchorage Police Department? Of course not, we also have thieves, such as APD Officer Jesse Reynaga who stole nearly $30,000 from Anchorage Police Department Employee Associations vending machines. For this Class B felony crime, he was sentenced to 200 hours of community work service, because the judge felt that it was bad enough that he lost his job as a police officer. If some homeless person committed this theft, you can bet your butt that he wouldn’t be homeless anymore. Instead, he’d have a nice 6’ x 8’ cement cell to live in for the next couple years. Who could be next in our "APD Apple Tree?" How about a former APD detective who was making a minimum of $57,000 a year? Guess who? You got it, it was Detective Linda O’Brien that was under investigation for misusing her credit cards which were issued to her by APD, strictly for undercover operations. Instead, Detective O’Brien charged over $2,000.00 for her own personal benefit. Surely she was arrested right? Of course not, instead she quit the force. Her husband, Officer John O’Brien says that she quit the force so that she could start her own business that she had considered even before the investigation. Now let’s just go over these officers and their crimes briefly. First we had APD Child Exploitation Detective, Frank Feichtinger, who was charged with several counts of "official misconduct" for tricking boys into performing sadomasochistic master-slave scenarios while he photographed them in the nude. Secondly we have APD Officer Preston "Jack" Chapman who was terminated after nine years on the force for lying on his employment application, among numerous other offenses in his past. Then we have Chuck Betts who was not only committing adultery but he was also sexually molesting the woman’s young daughter. Next, we had APD Officer Ron Wade who was being paid to protect our streets, but instead he was out having sex with prostitutes. Then we come to APD Officer Matt Dahl who quits the force after being investigated for sleeping with a teen-aged girl. We also can’t forget about the two former officers with the sticky fingers can we? APD Officers Linda O’Brien and Jesse Reynaga. Oh yeah, we can’t forget about the case that was tossed under the carpet by the Anchorage Police Department. Well, let me narrow that down a little. I’m talking about the one where APD Officer Jim Rehmann teamed up with an Anchorage priest by the name of Father Murphy, who embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy land for themselves with the Catholic Parishioners money. Every holiday we hear how the police tell us not to drink and drive, however, I guess that didn’t apply to former APD Chief Brian Porter when he was arrested for drunk driving. In an article in the Daily News, Porter says that he does not think that he has a drinking problem, however, former APD Detective Frank Feichtinger says differently. Feichtinger stated that one night after getting off duty, he saw former Chief Porter’s patrol car idling outside a gas station on Tudor while Porter was drunk and passed out behind the wheel. Let’s learn a little more about these officers and others who were paid to protect this great city.

About the Book
This is a book of non-fiction. While much of the dialogue in it is taken directly from court transcripts, police reports, and newspapers, there are numerous instances in which it has been reconstructed on the basis of the author’s interviews with relevant individuals. It should be emphasized that a police investigation produces conflicting versions of the actual events. Where such conflicts exist, the author has sought to provide the version in which his opinion is the most credible. An officer can only give his version of the events. The author’s version is based on the fact that he was present when many of these crimes took place. The real names of the people involved in this book have been used with the exception of the name of the FBI agent. The author has chose to disguise her identity to preserve her privacy. During this investigation, it was also revealed that some rather unholy things were going on at a Catholic Church and within the Archdioceses of Anchorage. You’ll read how the Archbishop and Anchorage Police Department officials covered up a major embezzlement and sexual abuse case because members of both entities were involved.
About the Author
Ken Gage has spent over ten years in the field of investigations, working for several law firms as lead investigator. He has over two years experience in criminal psychology and has worked such areas as burglary, rape and homicide investigations. He has also worked four years as a Bail Enforcement Agent. He currently resides in Anchorage, Alaska with his wife, Jodie of 14 years and their 13- year old daughter.
