The Star Poem
As bright as you are, the rain, the moon,
the sun and the star's.
You are what you are because you are a star.
You are as far from me as I am from you.
Distances times three.
More precious than stone.
More precious than diamond.
You are what you are because
you are a star.
I felt like we were gift's
wrapped for God.
Underneath a tree of star's.
We were cold, sandy and wet.
I thought about how old you are.
Being as bright as you are.
Because to me. you are who you are.
Because you are a star.

The Star Inside Of Me
I will wait to see, but I will not
wait to see, the star inside of me.
Faster Lord, set me free.
Help me to show the world how
bright I can be.
But first I have to show me.
I am learning from the pain.
But I am not understanding why,
I can not go back and be the same.
I will wait to see you Lord.
But, I will not wait to see the
star inside of me.

About the Book
My book is about stars of all kinds. What I thought about that night or that morning – sometimes mostly from 6 P.M. to 5 A.M. the next day – I didn’t know this was true. I did know that it was too late. But I love to be a star. This book is about a girl who loves stars and has a big imagination. From self-taught stories to poetry, I am a self-taught artist. I have a pictorial mind. Now I am teaching myself to write poetry. I was writing before I was blind.
About the Author
I’m from the east coast of Maryland. I was born in South Baltimore, and raised in a small house in the suburbs of Pasadena, MD. My family then moved to Severn, MD., and we spent our summer vacations at Ocean City. At the age of fourteen I was living with my aunt and uncle and two cousins in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. From there I went to live with my mother in Ashland, MO. I was married at the age of 17½ and moved to Minnesota, and then to Iowa where I started writing and now call home. I have been told all my life that I was part Cherokee Indian, but I have blue eyes and blond hair. I really doubt that I am, but who knows. My father and other relatives are from West Virginia, where the Reed name is the longest living name.
