Waiting on God for Your Divine Right Mate

My heart aches to see the pain of people searching for love and instead finding disaster in their lives. The media is full of tips, advice columns, articles, television programs and books on how to find the love of your life and keep it. However, of all the information I have seen, I have seldom seen anyone stress the importance of listening to God to find out whom He wants for us. I remember trying to find answers and getting a lot of personal opinion, but no one truly offered the Word of God as a source of instruction for my life. As a result, I shipwrecked into a marriage that was emotionally, mentally and sexually abusive. I remember going to counseling to seek someone to help me make sense of the whole thing but no one could help. Furthermore, they never even steered me to the one Man who could and that is Jesus. So, I suffered through one of the toughest times of my life, ignorant of the Word of God concerning relationships and marriage.

Eventually, God delivered me from the marriage. I was divorced three years later. Even though I wasn’t in that particular situation anymore, I still did not understand a biblical way to have my divine mate. I had been through so many hardships in this area of my life since living for Christ. Much of my source of problems stemmed from listening to the advice of older believers who I thought had more biblical wisdom in this area than I did. I found that age doesn’t necessarily bring about the sort of Godly Wisdom I sought. Instead of offering me a word from heaven, their flesh got involved, and I got a mixture of worldly wisdom and personal opinion. Not knowing better at the time, I followed erroneous advice to my devastation.

I had been through so much hell that by the time the cards turned and a new believer asked me, " How do Christians date?" I decided to do what should have been done for me. I went to God. I didn’t want anyone to experience the unnecessary pain I went through because I decided to get my flesh involved. So I started fasting and praying until I heard from heaven.

When God began to speak to me concerning this issue, He took me on a fascinating journey through His Holy Word. I watch as God revealed scripture after scripture interpreting everything Himself for me. After gathering this data, I recognized that He didn’t bless me this richly so that I could just sit on it. I had a responsibility to share it with others that may be going through some of the same challenges in this area of their lives.
