About the Book
The Block: A Brooklyn Story is about the author’s experiences growing up in Brooklyn, New York, between the years 1969 and 1990. The book relates to the many people the author grew up with and the things that went on in the neighborhood.
The book also tells the author’s views on topics like sports, movies, television, and food. There is one or two four-letter words contained, but in each case, the author included those words not to offend or to be obscene, but to drive some points home and present his past honestly.
About the Author
Brian O. was born forty years ago in Brooklyn, New York, to Jamaican and Cuban parents. He was educated in the New York City Public School System. Brian graduated from Winthrop Junior High School and Erasmus Hall High School, where he was an art major.
Brian later went to college at City College of New York (C.C.N.Y.) where he majored in Health Administration. He received his Bachelor of Arts from City College in June 1982. Brian went on to receive a Masters Degree in Public Health from Brooklyn College in February 1990. He is an avid reader who loves sports, exercise, and other recreational activities. Brian also enjoys drawing, painting, photography and computer graphics in his spare time.
