I can somewhat relate to the Samaritan woman. She was going to draw water from a well that was full of water but none which could satisfy the thirsting in her spirit. She had been in relationship after relationship and still she was not satisfied. She even had a beau waiting at home for her, yet she still couldn’t find anyone to quench her thirsts until she met Jesus. He was waiting there at the well for her. She had an appointment with Him and did not know it. My satisfaction from the Lord started from an appointment I once had with Him. I was minding my own business, going throughout my normal day. I was about to dip into my own "will" again to satisfy a craving within my heart for love and there He was. He was standing near the edge of my will, waiting patiently for me. The Living Water leaned over and whispered ever so softly in my ear ‘Give Me to drink’. I let go of my waterpot that day and began praising Him right there. As I was praising I began calling out His name. I called Him ‘Master, Savior, and Deliverer.’ It was that very day He asked me *"When are you going to let Me be your lover?" He said, "You keep asking Me for a mate but I want to be your mate." I reminded Him, "You’re my Father and my Lord." He then said to me, "Aren’t I also your Everything?" "Well, yes," I answered. "Then why can’t I be your Husband?"
"For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called." Is. 54:5 (KJV) God wants to be the Lover of our souls and the center of our hearts. If He can be both our Mother and Father, or our Lawyer and the Judge, then why can’t He be our Husband and Friend? He longs to caress us and to hold us in His arms. He rocks us to sleep at night and kisses us awake in the morning. He is madly in love with us. How can we continue to ask God for a mate if we haven’t considered this love He has for us? That is like being in a relationship with someone that is constantly expressing his love to you, then asking him to introduce you to one of his friends. This may all sound foolish thinking of God as a mate. Can we really be wives to the Most High? How? I was so curious at one point to know exactly how I could be a wife to God. He told me to write down everything that I thought it was going to take in order to be a good wife to my future mate. These are some of the qualities I wrote. A good wife cleans A good wife cooks.
A good wife is a good mother to her children. A good wife is a good lover beyond just the bedroom.
A good wife is a strong support to her man. God told me that all the things I think it will take to be a good wife for my mate are the same things it will take to be a good wife to Him. A lot of single believers have an idea of what it will take to make a good mate, but they have no idea that they don’t have to wait until after their wedding day to show these characteristics. We should be expressing them to the Lord right now.
