The boy was obsessed with hermit crabs, of that there was no doubt, and now giant spiders!
When Tiffany and Tica returned from the beach, he'd already warned his mother about the "giant thing." He was begging to go back there again, using the spiders as an excuse. "At least on the beach, you can see them coming. We're so much safer there!" Ty muttered.
"Not until I get out of this "spider web", Tiffany laughed. "I wouldn't want to attract one!"
They hadn't been at the beach long when Ty found a really big crab. "Well, it certainly looks like everything is giant today," Tica exclaimed. "I hope you're satisfied at last!"
Just then, glancing up, they both saw Duncan approaching, grinning. When he reached them, he drawled, "Well . . . it a, turns out . . . it's gold all right, but they can't believe you dug it up on here on the beach."
"Yea!" Ty piped up. "I told you the source of the gold. It's coming from a sunken pirate ship!"

About the Book
While fishing with her family off the coast off Guatemala on a summer vacation, Tica Tyler, her mom Tina, dad Duncan, little brother Ty, and grammie Tiffany become lost right at dusk. Just as they are about to panic, they spot a small island. Since they all like it a lot, they decide to stay, go back to the mainland, and find the owner, who was delighted to sell it to them. Thus begins a saga of mystery involving Angels, Water Princesses, and strange dreams, which have a disturbing way of coming true. Seven year old brother Ty is driving Tica crazy with his search for the giant hermit crab. She has no time for such nonsense, being busy digging on a footing for the castle they've decided to build; she finds something that doesn't belong there. Ty, smart kid that he is, knows the source and what to do about it. But he's also concerned about giant spiders and think they need to get off the island. But how can they leave when his dad has promised to follow the source and he hasn't yet found his giant hermit crab? Then a huge crisis arises, upsetting the whole family . . .
About the Author
Ten year old Anna Marie Waggener was born in Thailand. She came with her mother to be with her American family when she was one month old. One day last summer, while swimming with her grandmother, Anna asked about the characters in her grandmother’s latest book. After a brief discussion, Anna went home and began writing her own series of books. She calls them Tica’s Adventures. Tyler’s Island begins the series, and its sequel, Ty Tica Towers, is already under way. After a trip to Thailand in the summer of 2001, Anna will begin her studies in arts and sciences in the 6th grade. Anna resides in Oklahoma.
