"Sarah, I really like him," said Sable. "But I am taking it slow too. I don't want to end up the way I did just recently. I have no idea where this will lead, but I am going to give it all I got." "You're doing the right thing by taking it slow. Take your time and enjoy every moment." "Oh I plan to." "Sable, how does he look? I know he can't be this wonderful and look good too." "That's what I thought. But girl, if I tell you he's fine, put you foot on it. He's tall, about 6'4, bronze coloring, brown eyes, a physique to die for. He is as cute as a bug. What more could I ask for? You know I could never stand an ugly man. I don't want to have to wake up in the morning and have to put a frown on my face." "Does he look better than Alan?" Asked Sarah. "Honey he would put Alan to shame. He would run circles around him. I tell you, this is the one. Oh yes, I almost forgot, he has slightly curly hair, that turns up right at the nape of the neck. I can't wait to get my hands in it." They both laughed. Then the conversation changed. "Sable I know you don't want to hear this but Alan called the other day asking where you were. I told him you were no longer in California. Of course he wanted to know where you were. I didn't tell him. What he is saying now is that he was confused and didn't know what to do with his feelings. He said he was afraid of commitment. Now he thinks he is ready for the whole bowl of wax. He says he can handle anything now. John told him he was too late. He told him he had hurt you too much. "Well, I am certainly glad you didn't tell him where I am." "I couldn't have told him even if had I wanted to. I didn't have your telephone number." Sarah quipped. "That's right, you didn't, did you? Sarah, I am really enjoying myself here in the South. It is so refreshing. I have goals again for a change. I feel alive for the first time in years." "Sweetheart, if you're feeling that good, don't even take a second thought about what Alan has said. We can't forget that he almost caused your death. Your lung never would have collapsed had he not stressed you out the way he did." Sarah said this with conviction. "When I think about that period of my life, I want to forget I ever knew him." Sable said as she took a deep breath of relief. "John told him how you almost died. He knew nothing about it. He seemed genuinely concerned. But there is nothing he can say to assure you that he won't run out on you again. A second time would be too much for you and for me." Sarah hoped Sable would never go back to him. "I really don't care what his sorry ass has to say anymore. I am not interested. Even if I hadn't met Russ, I don't want his butt. I am totally through with him. He had his chance, now it's time that I give a real man a chance," Sable stated with a made up mind.

About the Book
This book is an inspiring story of a lady in her 40’s who has had a challenge in the commitment area where men are concerned. She finally found herself in the hospital one day fighting for her very survival. The onset of her illness manifested in her body because of a broken heart. Sable is forced to come to terms with the fact that no man is responsible for a woman’s happiness. With that realization firmly planted in her mind, she decides to do something about her situation. "If it is to be, it is up to me" became her motto. In her forties, she learned to love herself first, and that in itself saved her from making another mistake in the "love arena." At last it was time for Sable to have the life and the joy that had escaped her for so long.
About the Author
The author hails from the Southern part of the country, and is the mother of one grown son. She is the fifth of seven children, and comes from a very close knit family. She enjoys reading so much that she decided to try her hand at writing. Surprisingly, she enjoyed it immensely and now plans to make this her life work. She had a thriving career in the financial world for over 25 years, but now wants to do something that is fun and inspiring. She found that writing gives one a pleasurable escape from the monotony of the day, and lets you visit places you might not otherwise have the opportunity to do physically. She thinks everyone with an ounce of creativity in them should try their hand at this amazing art. She is already working on her next project, and looks forward to a rewarding life.
