About the Book

CHOICES Poetry for a Positive Direction is a multi-dimensional book that compels the reader to follow the purposes and plans of God. It voices the concerns that lead men to prayer, expresses the heart of a revolutionary to turn the world right-side up, and magnifies beauty like a sculpture for others to observe, ponder, and appreciate.

This poetry elevates the reader using a ladder of prayer and praise to bring them into peace. In the life of every Christian, there exists areas where he/she desires to walk with a higher degree of obedience, thanksgiving, zeal, and love. It encourages the reader to continue a walk of faith with confidence. CHOICES refreshes the Christian to remember that with God all things are possible and that there is nothing impossible for those that believe.

About the Author

Reginald O. Johns is a graduate of Hampton University and University of Virginia. He is an educator in the public school system and an active member of the Rock Church International Ministries.

I began writing poetry in college to express my concerns as an African-American on a predominately white university campus, but stopped once I left the college atmosphere. About seven years later, after the death of a community leader, Ms. Judy Braithwaite, I began writing again. The home-going service revived my heart to produce poetry and share what God had given me to help others find joy, purpose, and success in life. This time when I picked up the pen, the poems were about the grace, forgiveness, hope, and dreams God has for my life. The work reflected the change I had made in my life to make Jesus Christ my Lord and the decision to serve Him as a teacher of elementary children.

I included a variety of poems in CHOICES, because people are living on a variety of levels. At times we need words of encouragement, other times we need correction. Sometimes we need to stop, rest, and regroup, other times we need to work with all our heart. This is a book of poetry for the dreamer who may need to revisit the dream journal and remember how it all ends before the dream fades away.
