About the Book

HERETICS AND HEROES IN SCIENCE spotlights 20 mini-biographies of men and women who prevailed against resistance, hostility, even persecution, in pursuing goals that contributed to human progress. Each essay features conflict and triumph, and explains the benefits resulting from the individual’s successful persistence.

Science and arts advance only when individuals explore outside the boundaries of orthodoxy.

The adventures recounted here are bright spots in history.
