"Captain Rosencrans, I guess that quiet ride I promised you is over." Rose felt the plane noticeably tilt and hold its course. They were turning. "What’s going on, Major?" "We have received new orders. We will be landing in Sicily. We didn’t get much from higher command, but we tuned to civilian radio traffic. The Abraham Lincoln is apparently trapped in the Suez Canal." "Don’t bullsh*t me about this, Major." "I’m not. I can’t believe it either. Hell, my wife’s expecting me home tomorrow." "What do they want with us?" "Just following orders, Ma’am. I do know the orders came from very high up the food chain. I expect we’ll be briefed on the situation when we hit the ground in Sicily." The Abraham Lincoln? Trapped? A thousand questions stormed across her mind, but the pilot wouldn’t know much more than he had already told her. "Thanks, Major. "She handed the headphones back to the crew chief. The unusual actions by the chief had stirred the curiosity of the crew members in her command tank. They were looking over the back of their seats at her. Fender, her tank’s driver, who had been sitting one row behind her was leaning on the back of the empty seat next to hers. "You look like you’ve seen a ghost, Ma’am." Rose didn’t doubt that. Her thoughts were a swirl of uncontrolled questions, speculations, and possibilities. "We’ll be landing in Sicily instead of Europe. Our exercise with the Poles has been canceled. Apparently, the Abraham Lincoln is trapped in the Suez Canal." She noticed the Sergeant Major sit up with a start. Rose glanced outside one of the tiny windows. The Galaxy was still holding its turn and she saw the other aircraft keeping formation. Her stomach clenched into a ball and released. Did they want to use her unit, or the aircraft transporting her unit for some kind of mission? Would they really send her into combat? Was she ready for this? "The what?" Rose turned back from the window. Everyone, including the crew chief and his team were still staring at her. "It’s a ship, Fender. You know, an aircraft carrier." The driver recovered. "Just had to make sure, Captain. You said it like you were ordering a pizza."

About the Book
Captain Rose Rosencrans must spearhead a rescue mission to free the USS Abraham Lincoln. The aircraft carrier is trapped in the Suez Canal by revolutionary forces in Egypt in the year 2014. It is a time when nineteen Islamic countries ban together to form the last economic and military alliance to match the European Union, The Trade Zone of the Americas, and Asia’s Tiger Alliance. Rose must move quickly before the Egyptian Army can bring an overwhelming force to the Lincoln’s position. Rose’s efforts are hampered by a sergeant major who doesn’t believe women should serve in combat and a marine colonel that would use her force in a way that might destroy Troop Fox without it ever firing a shot.
