. . .In the past and now the thought of your brother wanting to be superior to us, the feeling of not wanted is so strong in some of us that they have captured that ‘don’t care attitude’. This feeling has built up a wall of hidden knowledge in ourselves. Our talents and gifts are wasted. The Negro must realize this ‘don’t care’ feeling will only keep him in the bread line. When we try to rid ourselves of this feeling, you will duck our heads back under the water. You are the only one who can tear down this wall and let our minds open to the good of all mankind. This is a need of a people to meet the change as you are preparing your children for the future. I know this change is most enduring for one who things he’s superior to his brother. The whole thing in a nut shell, that holds integration back, is all of you great white fathers’ fear reaping the wild and evil deeds you have sown over the years. There is always a guinea pig in everything we try to acclaim and not without ‘who shot John’. Your mother couldn’t understand why you were so against integration – you with your angel-like ways. Some are born with this superior feeling and some are taught. Now that integration is budding and not in full bloom, as integration unfolds, black people have to take this great step to secure their future. In a way, we will always be at the white man’s mercy but try as we may to be on our own. When integration does burst into full bloom, we should have the trade know-how to go into more businesses of interest other than taverns, restaurants and hard labor, cleaning and other jobs. We also should let our minds probe into science and engineering, inventions and too, we should lend a bigger hand in giving our own black children scholarships to accomplish this paradise we are looking forward to. I feel that our golden years are yet to come. We believe this country is the land of opportunity, for we see it with our own eyes and a piece of it fell on me. I do thank God for being here to reach these golden years. Justice must be done. I hope these words find you and fill your heart. Thinking to himself, "Who in the hell does she think she is, the Queen of Sheba, to write him such a letter trying to make an explanation for her people. Thinking they are no good son-of-a-sea cock. They’re just no good! Taking up the other letter, he opened it and began to read.

The story contains an exciting combination of romance, intrigue, and history. It is told by one who has actually lived through the changes of the views in American society. In the book, Andrew Duncan represents white America. All that was seen of Andrew Duncan was good. He is a kind, religious man who paid his employees well, and was always helping those in need. But sometimes, good people do and say bad things when they feel that others want to stamp out their views, their beliefs, and their heritage. The word prejudice haunts America and it is a very troublesome word to Andrew Duncan. There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death. – Proverbs 16:25. About the Author
Thelmore McCaine is a native resident of St. Louis, Missouri. Thelmore was blessed with an abundance of talent. She is an artist, working with oils, chalk, acrylic paint, clay, and mud. She is a sewer of things, doing what she calls upholstery folding. She has designed and built furniture, and she loves to decorate. She writes when she has a brain storm and is inspired, having written six books, and hopes to have them in print.
