About the Book

Even after Albert Einstein warned science in 1942, not to toy with electromagnetic (EM) theories as a device of war, the United States, Japan, and Germany aggressively went ahead with their ambitious experiments. The United States Navy failed their research in what became known as the "Philadelphia Experiment" in 1943. Treachery in the Night is the story of Imperial Japan’s scientific work that was later, because of pressing war obligations, disbanded. In their haste, a small detail was overlooked. Their destroyer Yoskifusa was still fully magnetized when sent into battle. In the year 2000, the dangerous results of this oversight was loose in the Sea of Japan and threatening to bring the entire Pacific Ocean into a full scale war.

United States Naval intelligence working with Japan’s Navy is trying to defuse this precarious situation. But Japan’s embarrassment with their fifty-one year old failure is obsessed with concealing many of the critical clues. Red China, accidentally discovering the wartime project, is recklessly working to perfect the theory and coax Yoskifusa, supposedly sunk in 1994, through a partial time warp. China’s intelligence clashes with the Navy’s primary agent Captain Harry Warren. When the Japanese send their naval forces to sea on a war footing, the entire Pacific political scene scrambles to mobilize their own forces. Treachery in the Night is all about how greed and political ambitions bring the world to another brink of war and possibly time itself.

About the Author

Herman Lloyd Bruebaker served ten years in the United States Navy from 1957 through 1967. Being a naval journalist, he was on the scene when the Navy was slowing transforming from its World War II victory obligations into a peacetime force. Service with the naval forces gave him the opportunity to visit those places he would later write about. The author enjoys writing military political intrigue and adding either science fiction or supernatural twists. For the last 32 years, he has lived in Riverside, California. Treachery in the Night is the third of a series depicting Harry Warren’s fight against elements desiring to topple the world as we know it.
