This is a job search workbook, please write in it as you do your self-evaluation, and refer to it throughout your career. Many chapters include worksheets. Samples have been provided to illustrate how to provide the information the employer is looking for. Remember, the information is designed to help you to evaluate what you have to offer a potential employer and to assist you in presenting the information in a way that will put you in the best light.
About the Author
Dr. Gene Merhish is an educator in the areas of adult education, high school and college level studies. He has over fourteen years of teaching experience. Trained in Business Education and recognized as a Business Education Consultant for the State of California, he operated one of the most advanced programs in the teaching of retail merchandising in the Western States. In addition, Dr. Merhish has over twenty-six years of business and marketing experience with such companies as Proctor and Gamble, Gardner-Denver, Harnischfeger Corporation, Accurate Air Engineering, and is past president of an entrepreneurial corporation. Dr. Merhish has more than fifteen years of military experience with the Navy, Air Force Reserves, and National Guard. He also serves as a business and marketing teacher at Ivy University, in Alhambra, California. He has worked in consort with The China Training Center for Senior Civil Servants, Ministry of Personnel, and The People’s Republic of China. In addition, he works with small businesses as a marketing and sales consultant. Born in Des Moines Iowa, Dr. Merhish now makes his home in Southern Cali-fornia. He enjoys sunshine filled days and warm evenings. He shares his life with his wife and several animals. He continues to teach and write books, which he feels, will fill in the gaps left by today’s educational system. The subjects of meaningful employment and career options are of special interest. Not everyone needs to be a college graduate but people do need to be have options about the quality of life they will be able to support as adults.
