The Disco people only once were approached verbally by a negative drinker. The Disco duo were dancing slow and so in unison that they felt like one. Disco dad knows exactly and without cue how to end a dance with a front drop to accentuate the last beat of the song.
An older couple to their left moved towards the Disco couple on the dance floor. The lady would only look down while the man demanded, "Don’t ever do that again!"
Disco mom and dad burst out laughing. They figured they were just kidding them. "I am serious," the man insisted. "Don’t ever do that again!" "Do what?" Disco mom asked. "Don’t ever dance like that again, you offended my wife," he accused.
Disco mom and dad were so shocked they never said a word as the "offended couple" went back to their seats.
As the Disco duo sat down in disbelief at the overwhelming development, Disco dad’s temper finally surfaced. He marched to their table and announced to them. "My wife and I have been dancing like that for over twenty years at this club and we will continue to do so!"
"Don’t ever dance like that again!" the man warned. The wife’s head sunk lower as she puffed on her cigarette and sipped her drink, never saying a word.
"We will dance like that and you’ll never stop us," Disco dad challenged.
"You better not ever do it again" the drinker would only repeat.
Disco dad finally walked off from the never-ending argument and talked to the officer in charge of the club.
"What is the matter with him?" Disco dad wanted to know.
The officer of the club claimed that the couple had been doing some heavy drinking the last couple of nights.
When Disco dad told mom of the offender with his continuous threat to them Disco mom begged Disco dad to really agitate him by doing all their moves in front of him to see what the drinker had in mind for them.
Disco dad refused to challenge the duel at this time but they continued to be spontaneous with their moves regardless if they were on the scene or not.
It’s Halloween time again. The Disco couple donned on their ZZ Top costumes again and won their fifty dollars. They laughed all the way home that no one knew how old they were. They have a new place for next year already on their agenda.
The Disco couple lives for the fast 50 and 60's music, It seems even it’s being replaced by slow western music. It was hard to get high dancing with the "drinking and cheating" music that depresses them to the point of leaving.
The western line dancing and couple dancing has taken over the club. It seemed to them it happened over night but it didn’t.
When the craze started new big dance halls sprung up everywhere. New country western places boasted the largest floors in the area. Their tables were topped with diagrams on where to do particular type dancing. The two steppers danced on the outside, the couple dancers would be inside lane while the center was for free lance or stationery couple dances.
It wasn’t long before mostly every country-dancing club was closed down and it made a big rush to the local clubs. The only time the regulars could two step was when the western dancers did. It was almost impossible to get into the empty center of the dance floor.
The Disco couple took a copy of the dance diagram to the club hoping it might help the regulars dance around the floor.
The officer was excited about the plan and claimed he would put a copy on every wall. After the Disco couple gave the paper to him the officer delivered a complaint over the mike that someone complained about being bumped on the floor.
The Disco couple thought they were being blamed for being the bumpee since they were the last ones talking with the officer. "Where was the dance patrol when you need them?" Disco mom asked dad.
The posters never appeared anywhere in the club.
One of the western dances took the whole outside perimeter plus the gentlemen would jump back three steps or six feet into the middle of the floor. Disco mom thought she was safe in the center. Without even looking where they were leaping one jumped back and landed on Disco mom’s foot. He never bothered even to look where he stomped let alone "pardon" his actions.
Their rudeness led to many confrontations. One claimed that he told, "You two big fat S.O. B’s if you ever bump me again I will kick your asses out the door."
The Disco couples shied away from the club all summer and explored other dance places. Disco mom says, "Let them have it!"
The ballroom dancers were run off too. Many people will not come thinking that the line dancers are there regardless if they are or not. Some claim when the line dancers start to take over they just get up and leave.
Disco mom knows that the square dancers could to the very same thing the western line dancers are doing. They could walk into a club, stand in position and simply take over and no one could stop them. Instead, the square dancers have their own special dance places and do not impose their type on others.
The Disco couple took up line dancing. They learned what they liked and forgot what they didn’t. They taped moves off television to catch on to their twists and moves.
The Disco couple joins in on several western dances at the club. There is some fast western music they like but usually do their western dancing at western places. If they get depressed they just hop to a faster dance scene. Now that the western has taken over their friends don’t seem to come to the club as much.
They ventured to Wichita to visit with their daughter and new son-in-law. They took them to an enormous western place. It had a big hardwood floor that was oval shaped like a racetrack. Bars were located on the outside and on the sunken inside of the racetrack.
They glided around and around the outskirts of the two stepping floor. People could not believe these dancers that graced their floors and told them they were ashamed to dance after seeing the Disco couple.
After two fun hours, the son-in-law wanted to take them to a semi 50's and 60's, Disco place. The place was so extravagant that there were two doormen opening each side for guests at this hotel lounge.
The foursome had approached the dance floor when they eyed a booth across the dance floor. Disco mom was in the lead with one foot on the dance floor when an announcement was made. "Anyone who wants to enter the dance contest come to the dance floor." Disco mom froze, "Don’t go any further" , as she dropped her purse on the edge of the step. "We are going to get into it."
The crazy wild music went on as the floor filled up as the Disco duo picked their speed to the song and away they flew. Disco mom did her drops as the onlookers gasped. She noticed another was doing a dip and motioned to Disco dad for an aerial and away they went.
They won easily. The music went from 50's to Disco and the adrenaline flowed in their veins like high
