LOGIC IN THE LAND OF OZ 'Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas any more. We must be over the rainbow!'--Dorothy from 'The Wizard of Oz' What if you were in Dorothy's shoes? First, you run away from home to save your dog from being destroyed by the sheriff. Then, you get amnesia from being knocked on the head by a window frame. Next, you're swept up by a storm and carried far away from home. Finally, you crash-land in an alien world. How would you feel? Many of us, like Dorothy in 'The Wizard of Oz', feel as though we have crash-landed far, far from our own, personal home; far away from the place in our hearts or in our dreams where everything is just exactly the way we want it to be; a place where there is no trouble. We don't quite know what happened to our home or how we ended up where we are now, but we have a vague, fleeting feeling, that our home is still there, waiting for us to come back. Is there really such a place? Is it just a dream? If such a place exists, how do we get there from here? Who are we? How did we get here? Where is here? These are primordial questions--the original, fundamental questions about the mysteries of life and universes which have existed since the beginning of time. One method of figuring out the answers to questions is to compare an unknown subject to one that is similar, but already known. The comparison of two similar things is called an analogy. Storytelling, teaching, explaining things to young children, and scientific research all use analogies as a tool for better understanding. Thus we begin our journey into 'The Wizard of Oz' as an Analogy to the Mysteries of Life.

About the Book
The OZ Factors uses the motion picture story of The Wizard of Oz as an analogy through which to explore common denominators of Western Logic which have prevented us from finding workable solutions to many of the basic problems of life.
Our search for these common denominators digs up the bricks in 'The Yellow Brick Road' of Western history that cover the dirt of our collective past, carefully hidden by the vested interests who wrote the history books.
Like Toto we pull back the curtain to expose covert tricks used by self-appointed 'great and powerful' leaders who have destroyed the lives of millions of trusting Munchkins in the past. We throw water on the real life Wicked Witches of the West.
The OZ Factors pours an allegorical bucket full of questions on the dogma of a new religion called 'western science':
* Does a brain actually 'think'?
* Who built the ancient 'Emerald Cities' on Earth?
* Where does a 'horse of a different color' come from?
* Are there really wicked witches and flying monkeys in the west?
* Is the notion that 'Only bad witches are ugly' a good scientific theory?
* If you crashed-landed your house in Munchkinland would you be an 'alien' in OZ?
* Did Dorothy ride a cyclone to the Land of Oz or fly over the rainbow in her Own Universe?
The author invites you to start at the beginning of your own yellow brick road to discover what is true for you. Melt a few Wicked Witches and say 'humbug' to would-be Wizards along the way. Explore the Emerald Cities of the past and build a future based on the greatest good for the greatest number of beings. Perhaps, with a little organized thinking, a good heart and a lot of courage, we may each discover that we have always had the power to 'go back to Kansas.'
About the Author
Mr. Spencer has distilled 30 years of independent research in his investigation to discover common denominators in Western logic which prevent workable solutions to the problems of our civilization. This unifying purpose has guided his studies of archaeology, history, philosophy, paranormal phenomena, biology, nutrition, anthropology, health, religion and fine arts. These studies are incorporated into an innovative and provocative evaluation of the extensive research documented in his book, The Oz Factors.
Fortunately, Mr. Spencer is not an ivory tower academician. Like Thomas Edison, Ben Franklin and L. Frank Baum (author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz) the author is primarily self-educated. A wide range of professional training and practical experience in the business world, in addition to academic study, are incorporated into his research and writing. He has held professional positions as diverse as advertising executive, artist, truck driver, CFO, marketing consultant, software salesman, cook, fire fighter, technical writer, construction worker, hospital janitor, teacher and accountant. He is also an accomplished oil painter. Mr. Spencer lives in Florida with his wife. He has four grown children and one granddaughter.
