About the Author

Sensei Clerc (pronounced Clair) first began his involvement in the martial arts over ten years ago. He is a 1st degree black belt in Kenpo Karate. Sensei Clerc has received extensive training in the Joe Lewis Fighting System. He teaches Kenpo/Jujitsu and is the head sparring instructor at the Tracy Karate studio in St. Peters, Missouri. In addition, Sensei Clerc is a Jun Fan (a.k.a. Bruce Lee) Jeet Kune Do instructor-in-training.

Sensei Clerc has benefited greatly from his exposure to a wide variety of martial arts ranging from aikido, isshinryu, jeet kune do, jujitsu, kickboxing, muay thai boxing, shotokan, tae kwon do, etc. This broad experience base has allowed himself to establish his own ideas regarding how to effectively apply the basic self-defense techniques. The subject matter of this book relates the core principles that Sensei Clerc believes are necessary in order for anyone who has an interest in the martial arts to apply basic self-defense principles during realistic situations.
