What was I doing here? Thought Kimberly Shaw. I knew that it just. wasn't the right due time. The pregnancy had not taken full term. So what was all this excitement to get me down to Mercy General anyway?
Kimberly kept thinking to herself, What if they didn't notify Eric? He might just he out of town by now! Honestly! You would think the girls at work would have taken my stomach pains a little more lightly. They all have babies at home. Carla just had...to call...my doctor and tell him my symptoms! Of course!, Doctor Corona wasn't at his office.
He was on call for emergencies at the hospital today. Carla also could not stay with me in the outpatient ward. So here I'm all alone! I really do have better things to do. Even if it is to go home and finish the laundry. Whoa! I just don't understand what all these pains are for! I cannot believe they are labor pains because I've got months to go yet!
'Doctor or Corona! Doctor Corona! Please come to the outpatient ward,' said the nurse on the intercom.
'Sounds like he will be here anytime now, raced through Kimberly's mind. Hope that there is really nothing seriously wrong with me. It probably was just that spicy burrito that I had for lunch in the cafeteria. Carla warned me not to eat such a disgusting looking thing. It had probably been there since yesterday or the day before that. Next time I will listen.
'Hope you haven't been waiting too long Kimberly?' said Doctor Corona. Seems like today everytime I turn around there is an emergency! Usually on Tuesdays it goes pretty slow. Well, let enough alone, let's get onto what is bothering you. If you would kindly step into the examining room and get up on the examining table, I will be right with you. I just need to go wash my hands.
Well, getting up on the table was something else, The pains were so bad by now all I could do was double up with pain. When Doctor Corona came in he hurried and called for the nurse.
'Kimberly, I want you to take a few deep breaths and then I want you to lie down on the table so I can examine the baby. I want to see if it is doing fine. Nurse Low will be here shortly and we will go from there,' said Doctor Corona.
'The pain is getting unbearable Doctor Corona! Can't you give me something for it?' yelled Kimberly. 'You don't think that the baby is going to arrive early do you? It just can't be! I don't have anything ready and Eric, Eric isn't even here! Why hadn't someone tried to get hold of my husband! Eeeee.....Eeeeee.....! The pain, I can't. stand it any longer! Please help me!'
