About the Book

The Left Handed Cannibal is the story of a common man who through uncommon desire and hard work made his dreams come true. From commando trailing in the Fijii Ilsands as a young man, to grafting mulberries on his Illinois farm during his middle years, to finishing his college degree at age 61, Myron Nixon lived an American success story that will never make the front pages but will endure because of its sincerity and warm simplicity.

About the Author

An Anthropologist, Dr. Nixon was born in Alton and grew up in Chesterfield, Illinois, the focus of this work. Anthropology has taken him through the American Midwest, the Southwest, and the Far West with a focus on Native American Tribes and the issues that they face in modern society. He is especially interested in stagecoaching in the Old West, its maturtation just before the Gold Rush, its growth during the trans-desert stampede to the beckoning fortunes, and its demise as the railroad maneuvered westward. This work, The Left Handed Cannibal, serves as an example of his interests in history and in human behavior.
