Rising Above

My advice to any one stuck in a verbally abusive relationship, no matter if it is a parent or partner, get out! You may think that it isn’t hurting you but it is making your soul bleed, even if your body isn’t. “If you had listened to me,” my Dad said, “You would have been millionaires by now.” “Are you kidding me?” I yelled. “You spent all the money and you stole from me and Rocco! We aren’t millionaires because we listened to you and trusted you!” “If that’s how you feel then maybe I should just take you out of my will!” “Keep your damn money, I don’t need it. If you’re done with me, I’m done with you. You are nothing but a liar, you always came first and everything you do is just to show off to strangers! You don’t care what your own family thinks about you!” My brother told me that he went to his lawyer and took me out of the will. “Well that says a lot about how he really feels about me.” I said. My brother never talked back to my father. But I just couldn’t take all the bullshit anymore. I mean, how dared he claim that he wanted to see us rich when he had been stealing from us all that time? I didn’t care if I ever spoke to him again. I was so angry. I never did get an apology, but apparently I am back in the will again, according to my brother. Whatever, I have to accept that he will never admit that he has done anything wrong to us.
