About the Author

Dr. Raye Mitchell is a social entrepreneur, humanitarian, writer, public speaker, and “innovationist” with over thirty years in business, marketing, and branding in the entertainment industry and the legal profession, leading her own law firm and related corporate enterprises. In 2007, she used that experience to become a social entrepreneur to help women and girls. Recently, Ms. Mitchell expanded her community service efforts by initiating a collaboration project with actor and NY Times bestseller author Hill Harper and media and entertainment executive Lisa Jones Johnson. In addition to her award-winning work as a humanitarian and a social entrepreneur, Raye Mitchell is an innovation expert, a published author, and a public speaker in the fields of entertainment/pop culture, leadership, crowdfunding and change leadership. Dr. Mitchell’s professional experience includes working at such prestigious corporations as General Mills, RJR Nabisco, The Gillette Company, and the Colgate Palmolive Company prior to her leaving to attend Harvard Law School. Raye Mitchell is a native of Los Angeles, California, and attended school in Los Angeles before being selected by USC to enter the Resident Honors Program for early admission to USC. She then earned a BS in public policy from the University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy, an MBA from USC Marshall School of Business, and a JD from Harvard Law School. Dr. Mitchell has earned critical acclaim for service to her community and has received numerous awards and recognitions, including The Charles Hamilton Houston Bar Association Benjamin Travis Community Service Award (2012), KQED/Wells Fargo Bank Public Media Women’s History Month Local Hero in 2012, the Women’s Initiative for Self-Employment’s 2011 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year, and the 2011 Jefferson Award for Public Service (the Nobel Prize for Public Service. She is the author of The Evolution of Brilliance: Voices Celebrating the Importance of Women (2011).
