About the Book

Millions of people use alternative medicine to improve their health and well-being. According to JAMA (Journal of American Medical Association), in 1997, 4 of 10 Americans used some form of alternative or complementary medicine. Americans spend annually over $27.2 billion on alternative therapies, products, books, classes and services.

Unique among alternative medicine books, Mountains and Rivers: Complementing Your Healthcare with Alternative Medicine, guides you through fifteen fascinating alternative medicine therapies that can be easily integrated or harmonized with traditional medicine to achieve a positive effect on your health. Interesting, and sometimes controversial, topics including acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, Homeopathy, magnet therapy, meditation, aromatherapy, Ayurveda, music therapy, Tai Chi Chuan, Yoga and others, are presented as complementary therapies that could dramatically improve your health and well-being. The book is also a very useful health reference; the use and cautions for popular herbs and supplements are listed in an easy to understand format. Once your interest in improving your health has been piqued, there is also an excellent categorized reference section for additional reading.
