About the Book

This book is about the development and implementation of a high quality teacher-student relationship program in urban underperforming public schools.  It is about hiring and preparing teachers to become expert urban underperforming school relationship builders.  This book will identify and discuss five elements--the student, the environment, discipline, instruction, and the teacher--that are key to the understanding and building of solid relationships within the urban public schools. This book is written for teachers, school administrators, and government officials who would like to try a fresh yet time-honored approach to building a truly just and equitable system for all of America's youth.  And this book is written for those students in urban underperforming schools who are systematically being impeded from a genuine opportunity to attain the necessary skills to achieve the elusive American dream.
