Author Andrea Perron on Her Positive Experience Self-Publishing with AuthorHouse

AuthorHouse works for me, works with me in a way that is perfect for me because I’m dealing with material in all four of my books that is provocative, that is material that some trade publishers would shy away from, and yet there is something about AuthorHouse that is supremely brave. I knew how difficult In a Flicker is, and before I signed a contract with AuthorHouse, I sent the manuscript to them and said, “Before we take another step, I need to know if you’ll publish this because this is extremely controversial and provocative.” And within 24 hours, I got an e-mail back from my Book Consultant that said, “I’m calling you now.” And she said that the head of the review board came into her office and said “Get a contract now, this book is excellent.” And she said that, “I don’t think I’ve ever heard him use that word before.” So we were off and running. They worked with my timeline, which was tight. We wanted to premier it at the Undead Con with Anne Rice in New Orleans over Halloween weekend, and they had it in my hand. From start to finish, from submission to publication, they moved mountains to get this out into the world. I have gotten to know so many people at AuthorHouse over the course of the years that I’ve been working with the company, and they’re all as invested in my work as I am. They care as much about it as I do. I have to have that personal connection with people that I work with. That’s just in my nature, but we share that nature. I was a novice eight years ago. I didn’t know what I was doing, what direction to go in, and the guidance, the encouragement and the support that I received from my publisher has made all the difference.
