AuthorHouse’s J. J. Marshall and the End of the World
Twenty-one-year-old Jack Marshall may be a student currently taking up a degree in geography, but his first love is and will always be the craft of writing.
Even with plans to pursue a career teaching secondary school pupils, Marshall nonetheless gave in to his literary passion by publishing his very first novel with AuthorHouse, When the World Ends... The book is a dystopian science-fiction thriller about a seventeen-year-old boy and his group of friends who try to end dictatorship over humanity.
The debut author fondly recalls of his first attempt at writing—a total rip-off of J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It was the Harry Potter series that sparked his interest in literature and propelled him to write a book himself saying that it “inspired me to write for myself and to create worlds beyond our own and fictions that can redefine the past or give suppositions about the future.” Aside from Rowling, Jack also lists Anthony Horowitz, Ian Banks, Charlaine Harris, and Suzanne Collins as his top inspirations.
