About the Book

In its theoretical starting points, the book presents the socioanthropological understanding of psychic crises phenomena in modern society—on the individual’s and larger society’s level. It studies mental health as a social and psychological phenomenon, and it exposes the psychic crises that are characteristic of modern society. In the continuation, the book’s distinguishing features include a presentation of examples from the author’s therapeutic practice, a presentation in the form of a dialogue, the analysis of the therapeutic treatment through the therapist’s internal dialogue, and the final analysis of the present case. The cases are valuable material for the understanding of the individual, his/her distress, and the search for solutions within the frame of the psychotherapeutic and psychosocial help model. About the Author

Dr. Nevenka Podgornik Pulec is an associate professor, she carries out pedagogical and research work at different faculties. According to the professional educational profile she is a psychotherapist with a degree in reality psychotherapy and a European degree in psychotherapy, a Master in anthropology, and a PhD in social sciences. She researches and studies the field of therapeutic work and counselling, psychotherapy and its anthropological basis, issues regarding relationships, problems related to various addictions, and other mental health problems, and educational approaches. Nevenka Podgornik Pulec is the author and co-author of various original scientific and numerous technical articles and scientific monographies.
