About the Book

I don’t know why people are afraid of people who have epilepsy. It’s just a condition. It’s not something you can catch; it is not contagious. Epilepsy has to do with the brain. Like me, I was born perfectly normal. However, I had one of my blood vessels on the left side of my brain bust. That is why I have seizures for the rest of my life. Epilepsy is not a bad word. It is only a condition. Doctors are doing more research on it so they can try out new medication that may control the seizures much better. Maybe one day, they will find a stronger medication for epilepsy. I will do everything in my power to make sure that people with epilepsy will have a better life. Maybe one day, that would be cool. Maybe my life is not perfect. People think I can’t do anything, but they should think again. I can do anything when I put my mind to it. I can do it.

About the Author

Hi, my name is Mel. I have epilepsy. I was diagnosed when I was 8 years old. I have two dogs and they can sense when I have one. Having epilepsy makes me a stronger person. Epilepsy makes me an emotional person because I can help some people to understand this condition by giving them information about epilepsy. For example, if you see someone having a seizure they must make sure they don't hurt themselves. You can make sure they don’t hurt themselves by moving sharp objects out of the way like tables because they have sharp edges and if they hit the table they can hurt seriously hurt themselves really bad. Having this condition is not fun at all but it just makes you a stronger person. I'm a very lucky man I have a wife who always there for me. I'm also lucky to my work family, my mom and my cousins who have been there since day one. With my wife, and my co-workers helping me every day. My wife and Co-workers helped me with a walk I did in 2014-2015. My work was very happy to do it and they love doing it. I'm so happy that I have great friends like them that I can count on. My co-workers had donated their time to the walk and other ones donated money online too. It was great to of had my wife and my co-workers at the walk. They are a great group of people to work with and to be around. I raise money for epilepsy. I have great group of friends on my side. The best thing is to have your family always there on your side through the good and the bad.
