About the Book

Th e Frugal Alpaca Farmer—A Holistic Approach to Success defi nes the author’s mission and purpose for writing the book. Ingrid Wood gives the reader important information on how to structure and manage an alpaca farm. The content of her book is wellorganized and off ers valuable insight based on her research, experiences, and lessons learned over more than two decades of owning a small farm. Ingrid candidly discusses thought provoking issues and clearly spells out positive as well as negative aspects of alpaca farming. I especially liked her exploration of various management styles and care protocols. An open mind, common sense, and frugality must prevail if you wish to build and maintain a viable farm business. Reading The Frugal Alpaca Farmer will help you reach your goals. Hugh Masters

About the Author

About the Author Ingrid Wood was born and raised in Germany. Her life-long fascination with farming and breeding livestock traces back to wonderful childhood vacations spent with relatives on their farms. One of her grandfathers was a beekeeper. An uncle tended the family's vineyards; a great-aunt kept dairy cows. Others raised pigs, chickens, and small flocks of sheep. All were hard workers and inspiring role models for a young girl. In 1970, Ingrid followed her American-born husband,David, to the United States of America. After raising their son,Benjamin, in the historical town of Mount Holly, New Jersey, the Woods moved a few miles from their suburban home to a small farm they purchased in Springfield Township ( Columbus). The first alpacas arrived on Stormwind Farm in 1997. After breeding and boarding alpacas for many years, the focus of the farm's activities has changed. Stormwind Alpacas Farm and Farm Store is now a popular tourist attraction. In addition to caring for the alpacas and managing the farm store, Ingrid enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing with her grandchildren, writing, reading non-fiction books, gardening, and knitting. Ingrid's articles have been published in several camelid publications in the USA , Canada, and Germany. Published books include A Breeder's Guide to Genetics —Relax, It's Not Rocket Science ( 2004), The Alpacas of Stormwind Farm (2001), Hiking with the Boss ( 2013), and The Frugal Alpaca Farmer —A Holistic Approach to Success ( 2017).
