True Love

Jade sat facing the other way, twenty or so little eyes blinking at me through the back of her red hair. As I approached the couch, the eyeballs stared in different directions while I gasped in horror. She turned around then to greet me.
They’re not real, I reminded myself, regaining my composure to sit down beside her.
Unlike the freaky, scary atmosphere the bedroom offered, the living room was an enchanted forest. Birds chirped and I could smell fragrant pine trees. The vocals of Nathan Hash skated through the air. Clean and resilient, they floated along, knowing no bounds. In fact, there were no bounds. The entire living room was open and free, no longer confined by walls…

Somehow I ended up on the floor next to Blake. I think Jade was just getting too intense for me   and my mind couldn’t handle it. So I concentrated instead on The Opposing Forces in Your Flower Bed. What did that song mean, anyway?
And then I wound up back on the couch again while Jade told me nonchalantly how she once made a girl hurt herself using mind power. My dad had books on mind power, so I was already somewhat acquainted with it. She shared with me about how easy it was to do, although she said it wasn’t good to use it for bad things.
 “I sense that you’ve got it too,” she informed me, “and you just need to know you’ve got it.”
