That’s why we call her mommy, is a story about why someone is called Mommy. It describes how and why it is a term of endearment rather than a title. To have a mommy, doesn’t only mean having a birth mom. It can include foster moms, adoptive moms, step moms, etc.. It teaches that as long as someone loves you unconditionally and takes care of you the way a mother should, they can be called a Mommy.

About the Author

Kristy M Wright is a foster/adoptive mother to three beautiful children. When the first two came to live with her at ages 4 & 5, the little one started calling her mommy almost immediately. The 5 year old took a lot longer. One day she said “Half of me wants to call you mommy, the other half doesn’t!” It was then that Kristy realized that for her to be called mommy, went a lot deeper and had a lot more meaning, than just a title.
