About the Author

“Krystal Kelley-Davis grew up in Moreno Valley, California, and attended Canyon Springs High School. Krystal was enrolled in my science class during her freshman year, which was the start of a lifelong friendship. We hit it off immediately, and I was fortunate to have her in biology and as a teacher’s assistant. Krystal is wheelchair-bound because of cerebral palsy, but I found out very quickly that she is not the one that is disabled. You might be thinking, how could that be true? When you consider all she has accomplished from her wheelchair, it’s hard to view Krystal as disabled. She has the heart of a lion, and is smart and as competitive as a world-class athlete. “Krystal graduated from high school with honors and was accepted to UC Riverside. She completed her coursework and graduated in 1996 with a bachelor’s of arts degree in psychology. Krystal continued her education at California Baptist University and graduated in 2006 with a master’s of science degree in counseling psychology. If all this education was not enough, Krystal became an ordained minister in the Ecumenical Catholic Church in 2010. “Over the years, Krystal has dabbled in writing, and I was not surprised in the least to hear she was writing a book of poetry. Nothing surprises me about Krystal’s endeavors! The old adage “You can do whatever you want if you put your mind to it” is all about Krystal. In reality, Krystal is an inspiration to me and many others. When she becomes passionate about something, you better look out because she will conquer whatever the task might be. “Krystal was married on her thirty-sixth birthday to her soul mate, Jen, and the two reside in Lancaster, California. I hope you enjoy Krystal’s poetry” (Scott Savoie, high school teacher).
