The first letter we learn by sight;
The first letter we read and write.
The first letter we learn to draw;
The first letter we ever saw.
The first letter in a sentence to read;
And once it’s read, oh what a great deed!
The letter A is so famous; it can appear anywhere in
words and sentences.

About the Book
The book The Alphabet on the Move incorporates multiple objectives for early literacy education that can aid both parents and teachers when teaching young children. First, there is alphabet and number word recognition, then sentence repetition aiding in memorization of words and sounds. Tongue twisters bring fun to learning and incorporates teaching of long and short vowel sounds in words. The illustrations within the book personify the alphabet characters revealing that language is always on the move in everyday life.
Whether they are sitting, standing, or moving, the alphabet characters bring humor to the story. They also show how the letters we learn are active in our daily lives everyday.
About the Author
Lilla Williams has a deep interest in children’s early literacy development. She began working with children during the late 1980s and continued into the twenty-first century. Mrs. Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Texas Wesleyan University of Ft. Worth, Texas. She taught first grade for five years for the state of Texas, then in 2003, she and her husband were hired by Department of Defense Schools. Mrs. Williams has taught for both the Pacific and European DoDea school systems. During 2008–2009, she taught the American curriculum to fourth graders at the International School of Naples located in Bagnoli, Italy.
Since her return to the United States in 2011, Mrs. Williams has earned a master’s degree in American history from American Military/Public University of Charles Town, West Virginia. At this time, she has begun writing children’s books. Mrs. Williams hopes to continue writing more literacy development books and possibly other genres in the future.
At this time, Mrs. Williams lives in Rineyville, Kentucky, with her husband.
