Heart Streets in New York City
The moon wanders in a crisp sky
with the tiniest clear-weather cloud
chasing its tail.
Plush valleys along the river
have turned to stone,
the hawks’ crags now glass,
not clay.
Whisper to me, I cannot deny you,
she seems to say,
our City.
Seeds of glass risen to towers of light.
No whales cry in her harbor.
Tall grasses lush under wind fingers
have fallen, centuries ago.
But her soul contains them, her presence
majestic as any mountain.
Into the shadow, trusting the path,
see with your spirit.
You’ve been denied your cupful,
in this place.
Tell me,
the City whispers.
I will give you
anything.

About the Book
How does one share the essence of personal experience in a voice that can be understood clearly? This book is, in many ways, the story of my life. It clamors to be told. It cannot be restrained. It cannot be shut out. When you step into my world, you will find yourself.
Macrocosm and microcosm, the universe mirrors the interior of all things in this creation. No matter how diverse the form, the content is the same. Any life song is quite important. If one person is touched by mine, it will be sufficient.
About the Author
I have been writing poetry and short stories my entire life, some of which have been published. This work is my autobiography in what is most likely prose poem.
I am a trained first soprano, bel canto. I am educated as a behaviorist who has worked in the field of canine behavior for many years, specializing in the diagnosis of cause and rehabilitation of active dog to human aggression. In this profession, I have published many online articles, am the leading expert in canine behavior for seven years in an online question-and-answer forum (using my pseudonym in my professional work), and had a live radio talk show, “Bite Back,” from 1995 to 2000.
This book represents the most important of my life’s work in poetry and is intended to offer the reader not only a unique perspective of life but one that is also spiritual and emotional.
I presently live in a beautiful small American town in the Catskill Mountains, the perfect last place.
