About the Book

Margaret Morningstar has always loved children. She had two of her own, and eventually had ten grandchildren to love! What a blessing! She even taught Sunday school for a while then worked in the nursery in order to be around children because none of her grandchildren lived close enough to drive to for a visit. She had written songs and poems for years but eventually started writing poems and stories that were for the children—stories that they may have inspired or were inspired by the Holy Spirit within her to write. Patrick the Penguin was the first story to surface. Patrick is a happy-go-lucky penguin who enjoys his arctic life: nice igloo, lots of friends, plenty of fish to eat. The snowbirds visit him frequently, singing their songs and flying in circles around him. But one day, Patrick became very sad because he could not fly like the birds. He tried his best to fly, but it always ended in a flop to the ice. As he is crying big penguin tears, a wise old penguin approached and set him straight: the Creator made penguins by special design for a special reason, just as every being is made. Patrick decides to accept himself as he is and to be happy about it. When he does that, he likes himself and enjoys what he can do. He even becomes a movie star in a penguin movie!

About the Author

Margaret Morningstar (pen name) began writing songs and poems as a hobby in 1964. Some of her works were published in “The Arlington Review” in 1964 and 1965 (Diana Brodhead) and in “Leanin’ on the Fencepost” in 2008 (Diana Cawthorn). The gap was due to a twenty-five-year busy career as a registered nurse. During that period, in her part-time business, Morningstar Productions, she wrote specialized poems for individuals’ birthdays, retirements, and other special occasions, printed in frameable formats for keepsakes. She retired from nursing in 2010 to care for her ailing husband, Fred. Her songs and poems stacked up, collecting dust over the years. After the death of her husband in 2012, the Lord instructed her to share her works to teach positive values to young minds, which are bombarded with negative and unclean thoughts in today’s world. Hopefully, these works will be a legacy to her amazing children and grandchildren as well as good “soul food” for youth all over the world. Her motto is “Without God, I can do nothing.” Currently, Margaret lives in Dallas, Texas, trying to adjust to widowhood and keep abreast of the rapidly changing technology in order to share some of her works with children then perhaps publish a book of poetry. She also edits manuscripts for two authors, who (undoubtedly) will have dynamic, best-selling books in the near future.
