The Mysterious Waves Of Living Cells

THE NECESSITY OF A NEW CONCEPT Our body is made up of a very great number of living cells. As a direct example, it has been estimated that the number of cells contained in our brain is approximately one hundred billions of cells. This number seems to be colossal, but remember that it is only the number of cells contained in the brain. In fact, if we had to consider the total number of cells contained in our body, we notice that that this number reaches hundreds of thousands of billions of cells!! The other astonishing fact is that despite that extremely big number of cells, our body acts as a machine which possesses a perfect coordination. This brings in one important question: How all this amount of cells works simultaneously and without discordant scenes? The answer to this question is not something new: our body cells have some ways of communicating which are through the nervous system and the endocrine system. These ways of communicating assure a coordination of all the metabolic, digestive and motor activities. We are not going to enter into all the details of all these mechanisms, but we are rather going to try share with you the hypothesis stating that these mechanisms do not explain some facts and that therefore implying that there must be another way through which cells communicate. When we meet up with any pluricellular living being in our everyday life, we just either observe them, or interact with them. And most of the time there is nothing else other than that we think about.
