Dr Annavarapu Gopalakrishna was born on 22nd June 1950 at Raipur, Chattisgarh( then Madhya Pradesh),the last of seven sons of Annavarapu sitadevi and Egneshwara Sharma He studied in St John’s high school and Institute of science Nagpur. After completing his M.B.B.S. from Medical college Nagpur, he proceeded to Mumbai(then Bombay)for further studies He did his M.Ch. in plastic surgery from seth G.S. medical college and K.E.M. hospital in 1979.he worked as a lecturer in plastic surgery in Lokmanya Tilak municipal medical college till 1982 and then proceeded to the U.K. for further training. After returning from U.K. he started practice in Hyderabad. In 1997 he joined the Deccan college of medical sciences where he is now Professor and head of the department of plastic surgery. he is a guide for PhD recognized by the NTR university of health sciences and has a number of publications in Indian and international journals. His other interests are languages ,particularly English, Hindi and Urdu. He has published a collection of his Hindi and Urdu poems-TANHAAEE in four scripts-Devnagari, Nastaliq, Roman and Telugu. Dr Gopalakrishna and his wife Dr. Shyamala, who is a Gynaecologist, live in Hyderabad. They have two daughters. Mrinalini and Vibhavari . Mrinalini, a graduate of ISB Hyderabad is married to D. Suryanarayana shastry & has two children Abhimanyu and Anagha.Vibhavari, M.A. in psychology From Andhra University who is married to Lt Commander Rohit Kattoju of the Indian navy and has a son Advai.
